What is the difference between A2-70 (SS304) and A4-70 (SS316) for solar mounting bolts?
Both share the same A_70 mechanical class (700 MPa tensile, 450 MPa yield). The metallurgy differs: SS304 / A2-70 is Cr-Ni only; SS316 / A4-70 adds 2-3 % molybdenum, which sharply improves pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. Rule of thumb: within 5 km of seawater or in roof areas exposed to salt-spray, specify SBP-BOLT-M10x40-A4; inland and desert sites can safely use SS304 / A2-70 equivalents.What torque should be applied to the SBP-BOLT-M10x40-A4 in an aluminum L-foot connection?
